T-45R Transmission with splattersheild

July 14, 2007

(Rockford, Tenn.) - Keisler Engineering has a new product to solve an old problem on a popular car. Ford Mustang drivers no longer have to deal with their vehicle’s transmission popping out of reverse or the annoying sounds of grinding gears. Keisler Engineering is rolling out a high quality remanufactured 5-speed transmission to replace the original equipment transmissions found in 1996-2004 Mustang GTs and Cobras. The new products are known as Remanufactured T-45 for the street version, and Remanufactured T-45 with SFI certified scattershield for street and racing version. Both models solve the problems that have plagued Mustang owners for over a decade. Keisler has a US Patent filed for the designs.

“Pop out in reverse has been an on-going problem, causing endless repairs, dollars, downtime and headaches for Ford Mustang owners. We wanted to offer a permanent solution to make driving these cars fun and reliable,” said Shafi Keisler, President and founder of Keisler Engineering.

One Mustang owner on a popular car website asked other drivers for help. He said, “More and more it seems harder to place the car in reverse or first gear. I almost have to slam the shifter into reverse or first, and it makes a horrible noise when I do it.” Others had written in with some suggestions on how to keep grinding and shifting issues from happening all the time, but all have agreed that these issues are real problems.

Ford Mustangs' GT and Cobra models with 5-speed manual transmission built from 1996 through 2001 have problems popping out of reverse, causing drivers to hold the shift lever in place while trying to steer with one hand.

“Considering how much these drivers are spending for repairs, this is a much more cost effective way to fix the problem, not to mention the personal safety factor. We are proud to be able to offer a fix to a problem that’s been going on for years,” Keisler said.

The street model Remanufactured T-45 includes all new upgraded carbon fiber synchronizers, bearings, seals (and gears as required), with the aluminum alloy case and all new billet machined PRO shifter with internal spring biasing for positive, crisp shifts. The street and race model T-45RS shifter adds a new SFI approved race bellhousing, high strength alloy bearing retainer, and a new super duty input shaft featuring oversize 1-1/8 inch x 26 spline (requires clutch disk change). The Remanufactured T-45 with SFI certified scattershield allows Mustang owners to finally be able to legally race their cars on the dragstrip and protect their safety in the event of a clutch or flywheel explosion – a major safety improvement for 1996 – 2004 Mustang owners.

Both T45R and T45RS models can be purchased with an optional adjustable shift travel stop PRO shifter - preset at the factory - to help prevent internal transmission damage under high speed shifting conditions.

Keisler Engineering has been in the performance automotive business since 1991, and is one of the largest volume manual transmission drivetrain suppliers in the country. “We continue to support our customers’ product needs through complete drivetrain systems or individual components,” Keisler said. The company’s products include flywheels, clutch packages, hydraulic clutch actuator kits, pedal kits, and clutch bell housings. Keisler Engineering is located near Knoxville, Tennessee.
