A truly complete conversion from automatic, combining the unmodified Tremec TKO-600 with all of the correct matched accessory parts that have been carefully selected and tested by Keisler for guaranteed quality and performance.

1. 
TRANSMISSION - NEW TREMEC TKO-600 (600 HP/600 FT-LB), with the stock Tremec shifter mechanism OR optional Keisler ClassicFit™ Offset Shifter.

  • Stock Tremec shifter provides two possible shift positions, at 16.75" or 19.5" from the rear face of the bellhousing.  Transmission tunnel modification will be required.
  • Optional Keisler ClassicFit Offset Shifter provides the same correct shift lever attachment point as our premium PerfectFit™ series, but in a lower cost "bolt-on" package. Modification of the shifter hole will still be required. (Note: If you desire a no-cut, bolt-in installation, please see our PerfectFit™ series of transmission system.)
  • Muncie / Borg-Warner GM bolt pattern and input shaft configuration for direct bolt-in installation.
  • Gear Ratios: 2.87 1st, 1.89 2nd, 1.28 3rd, 1.0 4th, .82 5th; 2.56 reverse.
  • Low RPM Cruising - 18% drop in engine RPM in 5th gear (check out our Speed Analyzer).

2.  CROSSMEMBER - Best on the market by providing maximum clearance for exhaust while offering an OE quality look; No-flex/No-problem rigid welded box construction design with integrated isolator perch and gusseted mounting flanges, gloss black epoxy powder paint; this is a far better product than the inexpensive bent tube type crossmembers seen elsewhere.


3.  PILOT BEARING
- Needle Roller Bearing for long life and high capacity.

4.  ISOLATOR - Heavy-duty rubber isolator. Polyurethane upgrade available.


5.  BACK-UP LIGHT WIRING HARNESS
- Easy coupling to factory wiring.

7.  SPEEDOMETER CABLE & DRIVEN GEAR

- Heavy duty Spicer slip yoke.


10.  INSTALLATION HARDWARE KIT
- High strength Grade 5 and 8 fasteners, properly sorted, bagged and labeled for easy reference.


11.  BELLHOUSING - Keisler designed & manufactured reproduction of the 11 inch '621' bellhousing. Made in USA of high strength cast aluminum-titanium construction, 50% thicker wall construction than factory, CNC machined; available for all Chevy V8s and GM LS engines.


12.  BELLHOUSING INSPECTION COVER - stamped steel, black powder paint; genuine GM.


13.  FLYWHEEL
- Billet steel flywheel, computer balanced.

(Modern Type, Recommended) - OEM reliability, high quality exclusive Keisler design; easier pedal effort than mechanical type; installs much easier than mechanical actuator, with no linkage required; includes: 1) quick release master cylinder with ball joint and adjustable push rod, 2) single stainless steel line-set with bleeder fitting, 3) high tech OE grade concentric self-centering double-sealed hydraulic release bearing (rated at 7000 RPM), 4) bellhousing dust cover & line bracket, 5) remote clutch reservoir with fluid baffle, molded cap, 6) DOT approved low pressure line, and 7) installation instructions.


19.  SHIFTER HANDLE - Authentic looking, tapered round shank chrome handle, designed & manufactured by Keisler for Camaro & Firebird, features "TKO" with Keisler logo; aftermarket Hurst handle also available (but not correct height or offset as Keisler repro handle).

- Classic white or black knob with shift pattern embossed; optional knobs: Keisler 3D in white or black, or polished aluminum Tremec.

Overview-Ordering

Keisler's ClassicFit" Kit is a great lower-cost alternative to the PerfectFit" Kit for the car owner who will not be using a center console. The ClassicFit" Kit includes all the same high quality components as the PerfectFit" Kit, but with a non-customized transmission. Requires minor modification of the factory transmission tunnel and provides an on-center shifter position.

Optional Keisler ClassicFit" Offset Shifter is now available! It provides the same correct shift lever attachment point as our premium PerfectFit" series, but in a lower cost "bolt-on" package. Minor trimming of the 4-speed shifter hole is required. (Note: If you desire a bolt-in, no-cut installation, please see our PerfectFit" series of transmission systems).

FAQ: What is the difference between the Keisler ClassicFit" Offset Shifter and Keisler PerfectFit"?

Keisler PerfectFit" is a version of the Tremec transmission that is heavily customized by Keisler. The aluminum main case is machined to fit the larger Tremec transmission into the factory tunnel with no modification to the car. The PerfectFit" shifter is Keisler's custom design, and is physically relocated directly below the tunnel hole to give the shortest throws, which are also symmetric left to right and front to back. The Keisler PerfectFit" gives the best fit and shift quality of any custom Tremec solution on the market - Period.

Keisler ClassicFit" Offset Shifter emulates the PerfectFit" shifter handle position, but the Tremec transmission is bone stock otherwise. With the Keisler ClassicFit" Offset Shifter, as with ANY bolt-on offset shifter, compromises are made to the overall result - mainly in the the amount of tunnel modification to fit the transmission case, the amount of the shifter hole modification, and shifter throws being slightly compromised because the pivot joint is on the centerline of the tunnel rather than being directly below the factory 4-speed hole. This is most important when converting a factory 4-speed car, and you don't want to modify the car any more than absolutely needed.

The Keisler ClassicFit" Offset Shifter is designed to be the "best in class" custom offset bolt-on shifter at a price that is at or below comparable bolt-on shifter offerings from other companies.

Walt Reynolds - '68 Z28 Camaro


I probably should have done this a long time ago but here I go. I am the original owner of a 1968 Z/28 Camaro. It has about 25000 original street miles and over 8000 1/4 mile drag strip passes. It still has original paint and interior except the carpet has been replaced a few times. In 2006 I went on my first Hot Rod Magazine Drag Week. At the time, the car had a Super T10 4-speed and 4:56 gears. It was not very fun to drive 1000 miles at 4000rpms!  In 2007 I installed my Keisler T56 and 5:14 gears for Drag Week. The transmission made it so much easier to drive in the highway. 75 mph was about 2200RPMS in 6TH (.50) For this years (2010) Drag Week I changed the rear gears to 5:57 which is the ratio I used back in the 70's. For Drag Week 2010 I had set three goals.  Make the whole round trip, lift the front wheels off the gound (pull wheelies), and ET in the 11's.  Well I made the first two which isn't too bad. My car is an original 302. It is set up like an NHRA stocker. It is .030 over with a Lunati RL302 stock eliminator cam, Manley Rods, original intake manifold and 4053 (780 CFM) Holley carb and Summers Brothers spool and axles. It launches at 7000 RPM and I power shift @ 7500 RPM. This year David Freiburger of Hot Rod asked me if I would have my car lettered like it was for the 1970 Winternationals and I said yes. Here are some picturesof  the car both ways. I want to thank Keisler for the great kit. It was very easy to install and works fantastic. I think I want to check out the new clutchless model!

The shop that completed the Pro-Tour project has used Keisler 5 speed and 6 speed kits numerous times...they were keen to do another Keisler TKO600 for my car.  I also highlighted the progress through the winter on Pro-Touring.com. The car now drives just super, with the tight shifting Tremec.  I just love the overdrive!
