Kit Components

A truly complete conversion from automatic, combining the unmodified Tremec T-56 transmission with all of the correct matched accessory parts that have been carefully selected and tested by Keisler for guaranteed quality and performance.

1.  TRANSMISSION - NEW TREMEC T-56 (475 HP/475LB-FT), with the stock Tremec shift mechanism in it's original rearward location.
 

  • Shifter is located 28.4 inches from the rear face of the engine block 
  • Gear Ratios: 2.97 1st, 2.07 2nd, 1.43 3rd, 1.00 4th, .80 5th; 0.62 6th, 2.90 reverse.
  • Low RPM Cruising - 38% drop in engine RPM in 5th gear (check out our Speed Analyzer).

2.  PILOT BEARING - Needle Roller Bearing for long life and high capacity.

3.  ISOLATOR - Heavy-duty rubber isolator. Polyurethane upgrade available.

4.  WIRING HARNESSES - Easy coupling to factory wiring for reverse lights and reverse lockout.

5.  DRIVESHAFT - Lightweight high strength steel, automatic welded and computer dynamic balanced with premium solid sealed U-joints, painted satin black, certified and serialized. Built in-house on Hines driveshaft manufacturing cell for the ultimate in quality and craftsmanship!

6.  SLIP YOKE - Heavy duty Spicer slip yoke.

7.  BELLHOUSING - Keisler designed & manufactured reproduction of the 11 inch '621' bellhousing. Made in USA of high strength cast aluminum-titanium construction, 50% thicker wall construction than factory, CNC machined; available for all Chevy and GM LS engines.

8.  BELLHOUSING INSPECTION COVER - stamped steel, black powder paint; genuine GM.

9.  FLYWHEEL - Billet steel flywheel, computer balanced.

10.  FLYWHEEL BOLTS - Grade 8+ specialty flywheel bolts; with locking washers.

11.  CLUTCH KIT - Modern pedal effort diaphragm Performance Clutch Kit incl: computer balanced pressure plate, premium sprung hub Clutch Disk (with latest technology environment friendly friction material), sealed release bearing, lube pack.

12.  CLUTCH BOLTS - Grade 8+ specialty clutch bolts.

13.  PEDAL KIT - New reproduction clutch pedal assembly with rubber pad.

14.  MECHANICAL CLUTCH ACTUATOR LINKAGE KIT(Original Type) - clutch pedal pushrod, z-bar, return linkage, springs, clips, pivot ball (if required), frame bracket for pivot ball.

14(opt).  OPTIONAL HYDRAULIC CLUTCH ACTUATOR KIT (Modern Type, Recommended) - OEM reliability, high quality exclusive Keisler design; easier pedal effort than mechanical type; installs much easier than mechanical actuator, with no linkage required; includes: 1) quick release master cylinder with ball joint and adjustable push rod, 2) single stainless steel line-set with bleeder fitting, 3) high tech OE grade concentric self-centering double-sealed hydraulic release bearing (rated at 7000 RPM), 4) bellhousing dust cover & line bracket, 5) remote clutch reservoir with fluid baffle, molded cap, 6) DOT approved low pressure line, and 7) installation instructions.

15.  SHIFT HANDLE  - High quality chrome shift handle and ball, for bench or bucket seats.

16.  SHIFTER BOOT AND TRIM RING - Molded rubber accordion style boot with chrome trim ring.

Overview-Ordering

Keisler's Builder's Series Kit is a great lower-cost alternative to the PerfectFit Kit for the car owner who will be installing a custom interior with bucket seats. The Builder's Series Kit includes all the same high quality components as the PerfectFit Kit, but with a non-customized transmission. Requires modification of the factory transmission tunnel and will not work with the original bench seat.

Enjoy low-rpm cruising, great fuel economy, and less engine wear with the T-56 6-speed double overdrive!

Thanks Jeff and Keisler,
From a happy customer in Sweden...I went for a weekend trip to Norway, about a 12 hour trip to break in the gear box. Due to the 5-gear this was possible (big block and 4.10 rear axle) and something that was a big bonus, driving down the mountains, I could downshift to a lower gear and not overheat the rear drum brakes.  It's so fun to drive this stickshift car and maybe I take it to the track in late August and see if I can improve the quarter mile run. It feels like 700hp when I drive the car!!  The engine makes about 560-580 after upgrade.
